This note, beginning Volume 72, is my last annual letter to readers. My tenure as editor concludes at the end of 2008; a new editor will begin receiving manuscripts and planning issues in July. I want to use this occasion to announce recent developments and review some of the changes that have occurred during my term.
Expanding Horizons
If you are holding the Public Opinion Quarterly print version, you may notice that this issue is heavier than usual. Beginning with Spring 2008, all quarterly issues of the journal will be around 40 pages longer than those published over the past several decades.
The AAPOR Council, in concert with Oxford University Press, decided last autumn to provide the journal's editor with the flexibility to publish more papers. The Council acted partly in response to a letter authored by a number of prominent survey methodologists, who noted that POQ—while already a major outlet
